An excerpt from Return to Radiance, by Becca Powers
If you have ever known something to be true without being sure how you know it, that is the Knowing.
Everyone has it. It’s invisible yet makes itself known, whether through gut feelings, hunches, or simply the certainty that something is true. The Knowing is the part of us that has no limits. It’s the drop of the Universe that dwells freely within. It is an energy infused with Infinite Intelligence. When we have a relationship with it and understand its communication, it helps us rock our radiance.
The Knowing in action
The Knowing shows up in many ways — and it shows up differently for each person. That is because we are all unique and wired differently. Learning how to discern the various ways it shows up for you will help you rock your radiance on an ongoing basis. You are on your way to realizing the fullness of your potential, and strengthening your relationship with the Knowing will keep you moving forward.
Here are seven ways the Knowing communicates:
1. Gifts, strengths, talents
We all have something we are naturally good at or proficient in. This is the Knowing flowing through us. In doing the thing that you naturally know how to do well, you strengthen your relationship with the Knowing, enhancing your intuition and instincts.
2. Creative arts
Dancing, singing, writing, acting, painting, and any other creative activity is a form of the Knowing working through us. Somehow, you know what needs to be painted or written or sung. You don’t know how you know but you know. It’s second nature. The more you allow the Knowing to flow through you, the more fulfillment and joy it brings.
3. Recurring thoughts
Whenever a thought pops into our heads over and over again, there’s a good chance it’s the Knowing trying to get our attention. Whether it is a business idea or about a person, the more you can acknowledge recurring thoughts and explore their merit, the more the Knowing will show up and aid in your decision-making as well as overall confidence.
4. Body talk
The Knowing shows up to guide us to what is and what is not physically healthy for us. For example, shoulder pain is the Knowing telling us something isn’t right and we need to pay attention to our environment. It could show up as increased energy after we do something good for us, such as going for a run or lying out in the sun. It communicates through our inner yes-and-no energy, and the more we listen the more likely we are to have good health.
5. Food insights
Food is another way in which the Knowing communicates. Have you ever eaten something and immediately gotten heartburn? That is the Knowing saying that food isn’t vibing with you and you shouldn’t eat it. Food also can be medicine and lead to healing and optimizing health. When digestion is easy and energy is produced, this is the Knowing saying, Do more of this — your body likes this!
6. Gut instincts
The Knowing shows up as our gut instincts, as visceral reactions, such as feeling sick to our stomach or getting butterflies and goose bumps. The more we tune in and listen to these reactions, the more they work in our favor and help us navigate life with more joy and ease.
7. Dreams and signs
Dreams, daydreams, and signs are other common ways the Knowing shows up. Have you ever had a dream that came true in real life? Or asked for a sign from the Universe, and then shortly thereafter the Universe responded with one? This is the Knowing. It can also show itself in daydreams or flights of imagination like a short movie clip. This is the Knowing trying to communicate on a visual level. Acknowledge and trust these experiences, which increases trust and faith in yourself and boosts your unstoppable spirit.
Engage the Knowing day to day
Learning to work with the Knowing daily will help connect you to the truth of who you are as well as keep you on the path of truest potential. Its goal is to support you and help you shine. It wants you connected to your radiance and to your unique self-expression — unapologetically. Here are ways you can strengthen your relationship with the Knowing and engage with it in your day-to-day life.
Acknowledge it
Acknowledging that the Knowing is part of you and making it an active part of your life is an important aspect of the reclaiming process. For many, the Knowing has been ignored or dismissed, so reinforcing that you regard it as a trusted companion will increase its presence as a daily ally.
Ask it for help
The Knowing is an interactive part of your spirit, so you can talk to it and ask it for help. Whether you talk to it in your head or out loud doesn’t matter. Simply speak to the all-knowing part of yourself directly: “Hello, Knowing, I need your help today. I have a really busy day at work, and I will need some help navigating today and making good decisions. Please help me clarify the right decisions.” Or say: “Hello, Knowing, I’m really trying to understand what foods and exercises are good for me. Can you help me by making the answers easy for me to understand?” Once you have given it permission to work with you on a deeper level, the Knowing will be jumping for joy.
Listen to its whispers
The Knowing is always communicating with us. Get still a couple times a day so that you can listen to its whispers. We often move at such a rapid pace that we become disconnected from the Knowing, our radiance, and our overall sense of self. Listening to its whispers helps to guide you down your best path and helps you stay connected to yourself, others, and the Universe. Every day, find an opportunity to get still and listen.
Have fun and laugh
When we are having fun and laughing, we release tension and the blocks that keep us separated from the Knowing. Chronic stress and anxiety make it hard to hear the communication from the Knowing, the infinite part of ourselves. Enjoyment opens up those channels and invites the Knowing to be a cocreator in your life, helping to bring your dreams into realization. Find opportunities every day to sprinkle in a little fun.
