Happiness is something I believe we all have access to, if we just learn to flex the happiness muscle.

So obviously “choosing happiness” is not as simple as it sounds – it involves a little bit of work. But, there are very simple ways to get there, as long as you’re prepared to keep practicing what those ways are.

One of them is to simply be grateful for the way that things are right now. Even if you are not at your end goal. What is working right now? What are you grateful for today?

It really helps to get into the habit of reminding yourself of three things that you’re thankful for at this very moment and watch how that list will grow if you do this habitually. Also, don’t be afraid to look at the part of your life that is not working.

Often in a coaching session, I will make sure that the wedge in your Wheel of Life that has the lowest score is the one that we really look at. And always know that you have a choice. There are ways to improve what is not working and find easy ways to make it work, or sometimes you might want to change it altogether.

We always have a choice.

Another great joy booster that I really love is walking. Now that it’s sunny, stepping outside is really your best bet if you can do it. If not, walking on a treadmill or even inside your house works great. Use a Fitbit or an app on your phone to record your steps and aim for 10,000 steps a day, which is so good for your mental, physical and emotional health and well-being.

This is something I have learnt from the Best of You (BOY) program with transformational wellness guru Suzan Galluzzo. She just did an Instagram story where she suggested you make the 10,000 steps a day a non-negotiable and just do it for the next 6 months. I personally haven’t missed a day in almost 4 months and I feel so much better for doing it. My struggle is still to add some extra exercise and to remember to drink 3 litres of water a day, but the steps keep me on track and have helped with weight loss and a general boost in my happiness and well-being.

And finally, any kind of Yoga or meditation practice just works. I remember back in university, I had a biology class that was very stressful. But, right afterwards I had a Yoga class with a wonderful teacher named Axel and I instantly felt better. If a one-hour Yoga class in town or online is not available to you, consider just doing a short meditation.

Find one that works for you and I invite you to check out Insight Timer and try one of my meditations for relaxation and de-stressing. And if you don’t have time for that, just try right now to take in a nice deep inhale, hold it and exhale, and repeat that 3 times. Even that can work wonders for your happiness quotient right now.

Speaking of happiness, I am so thrilled to tell you about some wonderful shows coming up on Finding Your Bliss on Zoomer Radio. One is our upcoming episode with two very inspirational women: Marcia Agius from Inspire Always, and singer/songwriter Lily Frost. I loved my interviews with both of these women and can’t wait to share them with you all.

Also, for those of you who have followed my Instagram @theblissminute and our show, you’ll know that I am a huge fan of The Emmy award-winning TV series Schitt’s Creek.

I am so thrilled to tell you about my upcoming interview with Schitt’s Creek Executive Producer Andrew Barnsley, who just won 9 Emmy Awards for this series.

He is also the Executive Producer of Jann starring Jann Arden on CTV, along with an exciting new series called Son of a Critch and he is bringing back the much-loved Kids in the Hall. I can’t wait to sit down with him this week for an exclusive interview.

Also, for anyone who is a fan of The Bachelor, I am so excited to tell you that we are interviewing Jason Tartick from the Bachelor franchise, all about his new book “The Restart Roadmap” for an upcoming episode on Finding Your Bliss.

Jason Tartick

I have to be honest, we are all pretty excited and giddy about that one at our Finding Your Bliss headquarters! We can’t wait!

I love a quote that I posted recently that says: “Whatever is good for your soul, do that.” I think it’s so important to check in with yourself and remember that happiness is an inside job and make sure you are giving yourself the same tender care that you would to a child or to someone you really love.

Don’t settle for being treated in any way that doesn’t make you feel good. Set boundaries and show yourself the same kindness and respect that you give to others.

And, do the things that make your heart soar and make you feel happy.

If you don’t know what they are, book a 15-minute Zoom session with me for some tips on how to get started! To book a coaching session, just go to findingyourbliss.com/coaching. And check out all of our new Bliss Coaching packages!

Wishing you all a wonderful week and hope that you all take one step closer to finding your bliss!
